The True Meaning of Christmas: A True Story

Once upon a time, a young girl named Lily lived on the very outskirts of the big city with her parents and four sisters. They were a happy family, always going to church, always praying to God, and always always ALWAYS being thankful to the brilliant man who died on the cross to save their sins.

Now this young girl, Lily, went to an average-sized Catholic school in the city five times a week with all of her sisters. There, the girls prayed to, learned about, and worshipped God. They made friends with other Christian girls and had wonderful play dates.

But then Christmas time came and Lily was excited to celebrate the birth of God — for that is what Christmas is about. She expected longer prayer ceremonies and even more worshipping than they normally did, but no. Nothing even remotely similar to her idea of Christmas occurred.

During the month of December, the teachers began to bring in cookies and candies for their students, the school began to set up "Christmassy" fundraisers, selling candy canes and hot chocolate, and the students began to wear red and green as well as those terrible "Santa Claus" hats.

      And then the talking began.
Every student, young and old, began talking about presents — "I want this", "I want that","my mommy says she'll buy me whatever I want as long as I'm good", and "Santa Claus is bringing me this!" All the students wanted was more more MORE.

Lily knew this wasn't right. She told her parents about it and they were utterly ashamed.

"But Christmas is about Jesus, Daddy!" she exclaimed. "Why do they all want presents for themselves?"

Her daddy knelt down in front of her and told her one of the deepest, darkest truths about humanity.

"Lily, dear," he started with his wise, old voice. "Sometimes people forget the true meaning behind the things we do. Instead of celebrating the truth, they celebrate something in a way to benefit themselves. For Christmas, we should be celebrating the birth of Jesus but many people have manipulated the holiday to be about gift-giving and so-called 'Santa Claus'.

"But, Lily, as long as you remember the real reason, it doesn't matter what other people do. They may go to hell for forgetting the true meaning if Christmas but you will go to heaven and be honoured for your gratitude."

And the next day at school, when everyone began talking about presents and "Santa Claus", Lily closed her eyes and prayed to God, asking for his help through her difficult time.

She made it through that year — and many years following as well! — but she never forgot what her daddy told her.

"Christmas is about Jesus, Lily, and we must never forget that.

      And she never will.

Christ for Christmas!

"Soon it will be Christmas day..." Christmas is a week and a half away and I think it's time I addressed my problem with where Christmas has gotten to today.

Many centuries ago, God blessed the Virgin Mary with a child who would one day change the course of history—Jesus Christ. On December 25th, the Virgin Mary bore a child in the little town of Bethlehem. Three Wiseman gave him gifts from the king and various shepherds prayed for his future. This day was a new beginning and where Christianity truly came into the world.

December 25th was supposed to be a day dedicated to the birth of Jesus Christ. Christmas was named specifically for the celebration of Christ.

Yet few people are celebrating this day the way it should be celebrated.

Instead of a day of the Lord, people have changed the meaning of Christmas to be about gift giving, food, and drinking (though I do believe drinking small amounts of red wine is acceptable — I even recommend it!). We should be praying to God, not sitting around a fireplace, talking about ourselves — that's selfish! Instead of being Christ's day, Christmas has become a holiday millions of people use as an excuse to be selfish.

Moreover, children are lacking belief in Christ — hell, some of them don't even realise the connection between Christ and Christmas. They have found someone new to believe in — or at least their parents have found them someone new to believe in. Yes, I'm speaking about Santa Claus, the unreal, fat man who dresses in a red suit every year during Christmas and flies around the world, delivering presents to the good little boys and girls.

Have you ever heard of anything as full of bullshit as that?

Jesus — the very one who died on the cross to save us — was born on this day. The angels regarded him as the saviour they knew he would become and sent many people to see him. Jesus is the man of God and December 25th is his day, not some "jolly old fat man's" chance to show off his reindeer.

That's just another example of how selfish people have become around Christmastime. Children want this and this and this and this and this (not my daughters, of course; they spend their free time praying to God). Do their parents ever say no? No! In fact, the parents even ask other people to buy gifts for both their children and themselves. Where has the true Christmas meaning gone?

And Christmas carols! "Frosty the Snowman", "Santa Claus is Coming to Town", and "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer", to list a few, deal with fun and games. Christmas is supposed to be about Jesus, not fun! Where is "Joy to the World"? "Oh Little Town of  Bethlehem"? "We Three Kings of Orient Are"? Today's children and teenagers don't even know what Bethlehem is. They have all been swallowed by the selfishness of today's modern-day Christmas carols.

Again, I ask, where has the true meaning of Christmas gone?

I think it's time we stood up to this craziness, this new selfishness that has gripped our world tightly in its hands. Christmas is Jesus's day and it's about time everyone realises it.

Please share your opinions. Break away from the modern Christmas and get back into celebrating it the way it should be celebrated! For God, for Jesus!

God bless you all.

Another great collage made by me!

I love my art, honestly.
I know it seems bad to recognize how good I am, but it's true. If I lie, it would be a sin, and, no, thanks! Sins are for sinners !
God is the definition of love, and that is what I tried to express in this collage. I hope you guys enjoy it; I am sure you will and... don't forget to put it as a background, if you want to. I mean, I will be glad if you guys share my art and spread God's word!
Oh, by the way, don't be shy. I encourage you to comment! I would love to read and answer them.
Thanks for reading!

My three year old daughter's art! (Her version of Jesus!)

Sunday, God’s favorite day.
Sundays are always special. Today was Sunday and my family and I got ready early in the morning to go to church and celebrate God’s day.
After church, we came back home and my three year old daughter started to draw while I was watching the TV with a glass of red wine. My wife was cooking and setting the table. I saw my little Lily drawing a great picture and then I asked her what she was drawing and… guess what she answered me? She said: ¨Jesus”.
I couldn't be more proud of her. Lily is all love and passion. She loves art, maybe as much as me. I think God gave her this talent so that, in the future, she might be able to show other people God’s love through her art. She will spread the word with her art just like her father.
Lily is not a normal child. She learned to write Jesus´s name before she learned to write her own name. She has never cried or made any noise during church ceremonies. She is amazing! She might be only three years old, but she inspires everyone who knows her.

I have more daughters, but Lily has something that the others don’t have yet. That is devotion.

In this picture I saw Lily how to draw a smile!
And that's out family going to church! Amazing!
